| Explore the "unknown Thailand", visiting the Khao Yai National Park, the fascinating temple ruins of Phanom Rung, the magic Mekong River and the ancient Khmer temples of Phimai.
Day 1 Bangkok - Korat (L)
You will be picked up early from your hotel and first visit the town of Saraburi, where the highly revered, alleged footprint of the Lord Buddha at Phra Buddha Bat is waiting for you. Continue to visit Thailands biggest milk farm at Phak Chong before reaching the Khao Yai National Park. Take a walk to to the famous Nakhon Nayok waterfall. In the evening you will arrive at Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) for overnight.
Day 2 Korat - Ubon Ratchathani (B/L)
In the morning the journey continues to Dan Kwiang, a village famous for its ceramics. Proceed to visit the fascinating temple ruins of Prasat Khao Phanom Rung, that were built between the 10th and 13th century. You will pass through a typical north-eastern landscape to reach Ubon Ratchathani, the most eastern province of Thailand, for overnight.
Day 3 Ubon Ratchathani - Mukdahan (B/L)
After breakfast, you will pay a visit to Wat Nong Bua, a temple with a chedi in Indian style, before leaving the town to Khong Chiam. You will start on a boat ride to the place where Mun and Mekong rivers meet. The clear waters of the Mun will mix with the murky brown water of the Mekong. You will continue to the rocky plateau of Pa Taem, that overlooks the Mekong valley, and see the pre-historical paintings, that date back 4000 years. In the afternoon, you will reach Mukdahan for overnight.
Day 4 Mukdahan - Khon Kaen (B/L)
Pay a morning visit to Wat Phra That Phanom, a copy of a similar temple in Vientiane and the most important in the Northeast. Later you will drive through the hilly plateau of Phu Pharn to reach Khon Kaen for overnight.
Day 5 Khon Kaen – Bangkok (B/L)
After breakfast, you will visit the provincial museum and stop at Chanabot Village to see the production of the famous Mutmee Silk. The highlight of the day -and maybe of the whole tour- is the temple complex of Phimai, that is similar to Angkor Wat - only about 100 years older - and was once connected to it by a road. In the evening you will arrive in Bangkok and be transferred to your booked hotel.
